How will you work with my medical team?
I work well in all settings and help the entire team to communicate. I have great reviews from providers of all types. Providers love working with me.
Do you sleep when the baby sleeps during postpartum overnights?
Yes, I do sleep when the baby sleeps. I typically will sleep in the same room as baby and care for baby/babies throughout the night, so you can get some much needed sleep.
Is a doula the same as a midwife?
No, absolutely not.
Midwives care for you medically throughout your pregnancy, labor, and delivery. They can do things like vaginal exams, interpret fetal heart tones, feel for baby’s position, draw blood for labs etc.
As a Doula, I will support you physically and emotionally during labor with position changes, rebozo support, words of affirmation etc. Prenatally, I will provide you with lots of information, so you may make informed decisions throughout your pregnancy and birth.
Do you only attend out of hospital “natural” births?
No, I attend and support all types of birth.
Can you catch my baby?
No, that is your midwife or OB/Gyn’s job.
Can you help me find amazing baby products i will actually use?
Yes, I absolutely can. That is a part of my job I really enjoy.
